A Brief History

The West Central St. Catherine constituency is Jamaica's largest and includes several key communities such as Kitson Town, Point Hill, Ebonyvale, Paul Mountain, Winters Pen, Fairview, Guanaboavale, Top Mountain, Bellas Gate and Ginger Ridge. These communities represent a mix of residential, commercial, and agricultural areas, contributing to the constituency's unique character and cultural diversity.


Over the years, West Central St. Catherine has been represented by several Members of Parliament who have shaped its development trajectory, but only one of them belonged to the Peoples National Party (PNP). Former MPs include Enid Bennett (JLP),  who served from 1967 to 1993, the PNP's Alethia Barker (1993 - 1997), and the JLP's Dr. Kenneth Baugh(1997 to 2016). The current MP is Dr. Christopher Tufton.
